Cold Lake RCMP reopen case after suspect gives wrong name

Cold Lake RCMP are investigating after a theft.

Several weeks ago, a donation box at the Cold Lake Bottle Depot, containing 200 dollars intended for the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, was stolen. Cold Lake RCMP arrested a man from Cold Lake who told police his name was Jared Jacknife (of Elizabeth Metis Settlement).

Jared Jacknife was not involved in the theft whatsoever, and is now assisting RCMP as they have reopened the investigation. Police have sought an arrest warrant for the suspect of the theft, as well as for personation of Jared Jacknife.

Further details will be released once the arrest warrant has been issued.
