One person passes away after three-vehicle accident near Lone Rock

One person has passed away after a three-vehicle accident near Lone Rock last night.

Around 7PM on January 21st, police were called to the accident, which happened on Highway 17 South at the Highway 688 turn off. Initial investigation found that two southbound vans crashed into each other, after which one of the vans was hit by a northbound semi tractor trailer truck.

One of the van’s drivers, a 64-year-old woman from Wilton, was taken to hospital, where she later passed away. The driver of the other van and the semi were not hurt.

The investigation is ongoing with the help of the RCMP Collision Reconstruction Unit, but the roadway is now open.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this accident.
