For the fifth-year in a row, Lakeland College has made it into Alberta’s Top 70 Employers list.
The list, created by MediaCorp Canada Inc., evaluates employers in the province based on their workplace, atmosphere, financial and health benefits, training and skill development, community involvement and other factors. Lakeland was recognized for their health benefits, maternity leave options and their retirement plan assistance.
The reasons the post-secondary was chosen include a $800 per year allocation for health and wellness as well as 10 paid sick days per year, onsite child care, up to 12 days annually paid personal days off and phased-in work options for those nearing retirement.
Dr. Alice Wainwright-Stewart, president and CEO of Lakeland College, says she’s proud to see the college celebrated as an outstanding workplace which is something she’s recognized during her 38 years with the institution.
“Ensuring our teams are supported, connected and informed is essential for everyone’s well-being and ability to operate, especially given the challenges we’ve faced with the pandemic to date. I am humbled by everyone’s commitment and teamwork, and how they continue to go above and beyond. This milestone is a testament to Lakeland’s campus community.”
Lakeland notes initiatives such as their Safe Spaces Training, Respect in the Workplace Training and Working Minds training help foster a healthy and respectable work environment for all employees.
Four other post-secondaries in the province made the list: NAIT, SAIT, Norquest College and the University of Calgary. Alberta’s Top Employers list was first published in 2006 and is open to any employer with a head office in Alberta.
