The Prairie North Health Region has announced the purchase of a new ambulance to the Cut Knife Ambulance Service.
Funding for the $167,000 vehicle, purchased from Crestline Coach Ltd. in Saskatoon, came through the Town of Cut Knife community trust fund and the rural municipality of Cut Knife community trust fund.
The remaining trust funds of 40 thousand dollar have been committed to purchace equipment for the Cut Knife health complex long-term care program, medicial clinic, and home care service.
The new ambulance is replace 2006 unit but it will be kept in use as a backup. The new unit includes a power assist stretcher that improves patient and staff safety during loading and unloading of patients. The unit will also be equipped with the new $40,000 cardiac monitor purchased recently by PNHR, which will be transferred from the old unit into the new one.
In order to accomodate the larger vehicle, Prairie North is doing 20 thousand dollars in adjustments to the Cut Knife ambulance bay.
