One man is facing several charges relating to numerous break and enters in the area.
The investigation was looking into eight total similar incidents throughout west-central Saskatchewan and eastern Alberta. In each, the suspect targeted small businesses with ATMs.
The building would be driven into by the vehicle, causing extensive damage. After that, the ATM, cash or other items would be taken or damaged.
In connection with these crimes, a search warrant was executed at a home in Britannia. There, police allegedly found further evidence linking the suspect to these crimes. They also allegedly discovered a stolen firearm, 3.75 pounds of cannabis and 203 cannabis plants in varied stages of growth.
As a result, Daniel Dean is facing several charges in Saskatchewan, including:
- Four counts of break and enter
- Possession of a stolen firearm
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm without a license
- Possession of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking and possessing more than four plants
Dean is also facing four break and enter charges in Alberta as well. He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan provincial court on March 9, 2021, and in Lloydminster, Alberta provincial court on March 16, 2021.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say no other suspects have been identified. Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Walburg RCMP or CrimeStoppers to remain anonymous.
This investigation was headed up by the Frenchman Butte Enhanced Policing Unit working with several RCMP Detachments in Saskatchewan and Alberta. Specialized units such as the Forensic Identification Section, Divisional Criminal Analytical Section and General Investigation Section were also brought in.
