Vermilion RCMP arrest man for arson of historical Minburn building

An Innisfree man is facing arson charges in connection to the destruction of Bowling Green School in Minburn.

In October 2019, Vermilion RCMP and the Innisfree Fire Department responded to a fire on Township Road 510 in Minburn. Police say no one was inside the building at the time and the Bowling Green School is considered a historical site since its closure.

RCMP say during that same period they found two hay bales on fire one kilometre west of the school. Fire investigators determined the fire was suspicious in nature following their investigation.

On February 9, 2021, RCMP arrested and charged 19-year-old Hayden Ross Isley with two counts of arson. Isley was released and is scheduled to appear in Vermilion Provincial Court on April 19.

RCMP say the investigation is still ongoing and expect to lay more charges.
