Maidstone traffic stop leads to drug bust in Waldheim

A traffic stop near Maidstone has lead to a large drug bust in a community north of Saskatoon.

On March 15th, the Saskatchewan RCMP traffic services stopped a vehicle outside of Maidstone. During which, officers determined that the two suspects were allegedly in possession of illegal tobacco. Upon searching the car, officers also allegedly found methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl, as well as an amount of cash.

Also as a result of this stop, the Saskatchewan RCMP Federal Serious and Organized Crime North division was able to execute a warrant at what they’re calling an associated home in Waldheim, north of Saskatoon.

There, they allegedly found more meth, cocaine and fentanyl, along with prescription pills, a modified shotgun, two conducted energy devices and over $30,000 in cash.

Inspector Andrew Farquhar, head of the FSOC-N, says this was a significant bust, with the amount of fentanyl alone seized amounting to over 2,000 individual doses. He adds this could have been very harmful due to fentanyl’s nature as being odourless, tasteless and lethal even in doses as small as two milligrams.

48-year-old Jenna Beamish and 28-year-old Dylan Bendall from Waldheim, SK have both been charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count of Possession of Property obtained by crime less than $5000 and one count of possession of unstamped tobacco products.

More charges are pending as the investigation continues. Beamish and Bendall will appear next in court on March 22, 2021, in Lloydminster.
