OLCN lifts do not consume drinking water advisory

The do not consume drinking water advisory has been lifted in Onion Lake Cree Nation.

In a release, OLCN says they’ve been recommended to lift the advisory for infants, pregnant and breastfeeding women that was put in place on February 8, 2021. They say they’ve been continuously been testing the water quality in the lines and have found that recent tests show the manganese levels in the water are now below the maximum acceptable concentration in drinking water and it is now safe to consume.

They add they will continue monitoring the water and work on improving the water quality in the community. Water jug distribution will also be halted and administration asks residents to bring any empty water jugs to the OLCN Arena.
