The Saskatchewan Public Health Order will be extended and vaccines are open for another age group were two announcements in Saskatchewan today.
The Government says that all existing public health orders in the province will be extended, this time until April 12th, after which they will be reviewed once again by health officials to determine their effectiveness.
In his Tuesday briefing, Premier Scott Moe urged residents to continue following the public health orders so that the fight against rising cases could be continuing without harsher restrictions, something that’s already happening in Regina.
As it stands, no new restrictions have been added outside of Saskatchewan’s capital city, which has been bounced back to stricter restrictions. These include immediate household gatherings only, travel not being recommended in or out of the City unless totally necessary, and the closing of businesses such as restaurants.
People can still gather here in Lloydminster and the surrounding area with up to ten people from a maximum of three different household “bubbles,” but are encouraged to check the risk of COVID transmission and adverse reactions before going.
Outdoor gatherings remain at 10, provided physical distancing can be maintained. All existing rules for other businesses and places of worship remain in place, which people can find on the Government of Saskatchewan’s website.
Vaccine eligibility opened wider Tuesday as well
Also announced Tuesday by the Saskatchewan Health Authority was that vaccine appointments are now open for everyone aged 60 and over.
Starting March 31 at 8 AM, people in that age range can book a time to get the shot online or via the direct phone line 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829) between the hours of 8AM and 11 PM.
There’s been no changes to any other eligible group. Individuals 50 years of age and older living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District and all remaining phase one health care workers can book their appointment now over the phone.
People with underlying health conditions who are clinically extremely vulnerable will still be guided to their vaccination time through an eligibility letter.
