Saskatchewan is continuing down the line of ages eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine, with a new group opening up tomorrow.
Starting April 9th at 8 AM, people over the age of 55 across the province will be able to book a vaccine appointment, including here in Lloydminster. They’re encouraged to use the online option, but over the phone also remains a way to book as well, by calling 1-833-SASKVAX.
No other changes to eligibility have been announced at this time, but all other groups that have previously been announced, along with individuals 50 years of age and older living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District and all remaining phase one health care workers can reach out to book an appointment.
People with underlying health conditions who are clinically extremely vulnerable will receive more instruction on their shots through an eligibility letter.
Some Moderna vaccines continue to be delayed, could impact rural appointments
The Saskatchewan Health Authority says an ongoing delay in shipments from Moderna could impact some appointments in rural areas.
The delay will impact the next expected shipment of 19,300 Moderna vaccines, stems from the manufacturer and is outside of health official control, the SHA explains.
While the SHA is still assessing the full impact of the delay, some appointments may need to be rescheduled because of it. They say that this will mostly affect rural and northern areas, but will be reaching out to people who will need to set a new time. No action is needed on the patient’s part, the SHA notes.
A further announcement is expected in the coming days on that matter.
