Local communities to benefit from Rural Integrated roads program

The Saskatchewan government is making some 25 million dollars in funding available to assist several communities in the province under the Rural Integrated Roads for Growth program.

The benefits will extend to communities in the Midwest region to the tune of  500 thousand dollars each.

Under Phase Three, grants will roll out to Britannia, Frenchman Butte, Manitou Lake, Paynton, Senlac and Wilton. Phase three is taking place during the 2021-22 budget year and 69 rural municipalities will benefit.

This program helps Rural Municipalities with the cost of building and improving their infrastructure and consequently supports local industries like agriculture, energy and forestry, the Government says.

In this year’s Rural Integrated Roads for Growth program, there have been 219 road projects approved, totaling some 233 million dollars of which over 55 million dollars have come from the program.

The government will be refurbishing over 1,350 km of provincial highways this year. These projects will place the province ahead of it’s goal of 2,350 km upgraded.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
