The Lloydminster Agricultural Exhibition Association is going back to the community roots when the annual Lloyd Ex Fair rolls out this weekend.
The opening salvo will be a new look Chuckwagon Championship which rolls off on Sunday beginning nine days of Chucks.
General Manager with the Lloyd Ex Jackie Tomayer says they are coming out of the pandemic hot.
“This is a new event called the North American Championship. It is CPCA drivers and world professional chuckwagon drivers combining in this stand alone event.”
The annual parade will headline next Wednesday July 14 as Border City residents will look forward to lining the streets for the best vantage point. Tomayer says registration for floats is closing at the end of this week.
“The theme this year is ‘Celebrate’, so whatever you’re celebrating in 2021, decorate your float that way and we definitely have different theme categories. So get those parade entries in. Entries close Friday, so you can find all the info on our website. ”
Tomayer notes that there’s a different look this year as the Fair will see a return to it’s agriculture roots.
“The Fair is not going to look the same. We recognize that. The Midway could not come this year. We are going to have a Trade Show and Fair food as well as all of our ag shows. We going to have the heavy horses here, the cattle, the steers, the heifers, Juniors are showing, the mini horses and the sheep show. We are excited about that. All those ag shows are going to go and we are going to cap it off with fireworks on the Saturday [July 17] night.”
Musical entertainment is another mainstay at the Fair which organizers say will hold residents attention.
“We are going to do Thursday, Friday, Saturday night shows next week. So Thursday night we are going to welcome Jordyn Pollard, a local talent to the stage. Friday night is Garrett Gregory and then Saturday we welcome Renegade Station to the stage in our Beer Gardens tent.”
Tomayer and the organizing team are grateful to the Community and all who have come on board as the Lloyd Ex does it’s part to foster post pandemic recovery in the Midwest Region.
