The Lloydminster Community 50/50 is being seen as a lifeline for non-profits that have faced funding challenges over the pandemic months.
The Olive Tree is one of four non-profits in line to benefit from the monthly cash injection that the Community draw will afford.
Executive Director Becky Schille is excited for the prospects of the foursome collaboration.
“It’s a great community event. We are always out fundraising for ourselves and so it’s really nice when we get to work with three other groups that do good work in the community and fundraise altogether.”
The other three groups benefiting are Lloydminster Region Health Foundation, Border City Connects and Lloydminster Rescue Squad.
The Olive Tree’s programs include free community meals, food bank, school supports as well as Men’s, Mom’s and Seniors groups.
Schille says funds will help with their core business activities.
“The funds are going to go towards just operating our food programs, our food bank, our soup kitchen and those things. You know with COVID for the last year, we have not been able to do a lot of our typical fundraisers for our normal food drive, so we are definitely in need for a little extra cash this season.”
The Olive Tree is thankful for all the community support and especially the sponsors that have come on board to provide the middle of the month option like the Early Bird Draw. The Early Bird deadline is next Wednesday July 14 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
Residents are also in line to win half of the monthly pot. The four non-profits will divvy up the remainder.
