Wainwright RCMP hold Red Deer man until his court date

A Red Deer suspect who led police on a chase through several jurisdictions is being held until his court appearance.

On Monday August 16, at about 10 a.m., Wainwright Police responded to a report of a home invasion. Officers searched and secured the premises.

At the same time, nearby RCMP detachments were alerted to be on the lookout for a suspect in a suspect vehicle.

Twenty minutes later the vehicle was spotted and about 10:30 a.m. a chase began. Officers used the spike belt to bring the pursuit to an end.

At about 11:30 a.m., they arrested a suspect known to police.

After an in-custody judicial hearing, 37-year old Andre Robert Vromans of Red Deer is being held until his scheduled court appearance September 3rd in Wainwright.

Vromans is facing over 25 criminal charges including alleged breaking and entering, pointing a firearm, discharge of a firearm with intent, robbery with a firearm, flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of motor vehicle and operation while prohibited.

Wainwright RCMP noted the collaborative effort across Alberta and Saskatchewan detachments and as well emergency crews which brought the pursuit through several communities to a safe conclusion.

Acting Detachment Commander Corporal Kirk Smith says the outcome solidifies his belief that the Wainwright RCMP and their neighbours are doing their absolute best for the safety of their community.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
