Lloydminster product Landen Ward is on the list of 72 invitees to the Hockey Alberta U16 Fall camp.
At the summer camp, Hockey Alberta had about 400 hopefuls showing off their skills. A spot on Team Alberta is on the line for the WHL Cup in the Fall.
Manager for Elite Male Hockey Mike Kraichy says the camp will be a combination of games, practice and off ice sessions.
“This is the second phase of the process. Obviously we have the 72 players. We will have a couple weeks between this camp and that date that we select the team to a do a little bit of scouting. At the beginning of October we will select 20 players to represent the province at the 2021 WHL Cup.”
Kraichy adds the Red Deer camp which skates off September 17, will have high intensity sessions requiring performance on demand from the Team Alberta hopefuls.
Forward Landen Ward who returns to school at Lloydminster Comprehensive will be pulling out all the stops to show off his talent.
“I’m hoping to make Team Alberta. That would be really cool. I’m a big, tall, physical guy. I can put the puck in the net. I’m great at making plays.”
The 15-year old, six-foot, two-inch Lloydminster product weighs in at 190 pounds.
Kraichy notes it’s a great opportunity overall for hockey players from across the province to play against each other.
Head Coach at the camp is Serge Lajoie and Lloydminster native Kyle Tapp is the Assistant Coach.
