RCMP seize drugs, weapons after traffic stop near Maidstone

The RCMP says a man and a woman are in custody after a traffic stop turned up drugs, weapons and other illicit items.

Around 3 PM on August 25th, officers in the Saskatchewan Roving Traffic Unit stopped a vehicle on Range Road 3230. During this stop, a search was initiated, during which numerous illegal allegedly were found.

A gun, one ounce of cocaine, illicit tobacco and multiple pieces of identification not belonging to anyone inside the vehicle were all allegedly seized.

Upon searching the female passenger as well, officers say they allegedly located a large amount of cash,  two more ounces of cocaine, as well as packaged heroin, methamphetamine and pills.

Richard Dankoski-Bear, 33, of Battleford and Larissa Montana, 24 of Lloydminster were each charged with:

  • Four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Illegal possession of identity documents
  •  Possession of a firearm without a licence
  • Possession of a firearm in a vehicle
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Possession of a concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of unstamped tobacco products, Section 32(1), Excise Act
  • Unlawfully importing tobacco

Montana is also facing one count of obstruction of justice, after it is accused she allegedly gave police a false name during the search. Both appeared in court on August 26, 2021.
