Lloydminster charities were on the receiving end of over $26,000 in charitable grants from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority.
The grants are given four times a year and go to groups that raise funds through licensed charitable gaming. Each non-profit that successfully applies gets 25 per cent of net proceeds raised through these activities.
These fundraisers can be bingos, raffles, break open ticket sales, Texas Hold ’em poker and Monte Carlo events among others.
In this round, the Lloydminster Rotary Club will receive $22,232.26, the Bea Fisher Foundation will get $2,520.32 and the Lloydminster Legion brought in $1,665.44. This brings the total for the city out to $26,418.12.
Charities around the Lloydminster area also received funding as well, bringing the total brought into the area up to $45,239. For the entire province, the total grants given out were over $900,000.
