Council signs MOU with Lloydminster Library board

City Council at its regular meeting has approved a memorandum of understanding with the Lloydminster Public Library to streamline operations going forward.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers says the policy will ensure consistent operations.

“I think it clearly identifies what the City is responsible for, what the Library board is responsible for; to ensure that information is made available, and it’s clear and concise and transparent.”

Aalbers noted that the City is legislated to provide a library which is to be operated by the board. He observed that even when personnel change on the library board or on council or city administration, the MOU will be there in the midst of transition to outline areas of responsibilities.

“The library board changes. City Council changes and occasionally administration changes; members of administration and who is responsible. So I think that’s what’s so critical and key, that it is mapped out and clear.”

Details on the Lloydminster Public Library MOU can be found in the council agenda for October 4th on the City’s website.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
