The Business of the Year Award was handed out to Guardian Plumbing & Heating for 2021. This as the Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce held its annual recognition on Thursday evening.
Given the challenges facing the economy, Executive Director Serena Sjodin noted the sentiment was fantastic as the theme of community permeated the event.
“Our business community is fantastic. Everyday they work really hard. We touched on a lot in the president’s speech talking about the strengths of our Lloydminster business community excelling through this past year and a half.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Mike Sidoryk for his nearly four decades at the helm of the Lloydminster Exhibition Association.
The Think Lloyd First Ambassador Award went to Wayside Dental Centre with Dr. Nekky Jamal stepping up to receive that accolade. Sjodin noted that in his acceptance speech, he again maintained the community fervour.
“Nekky Jamal, he was awarded the Think Lloyd First, which is an award that recognizes a business for promoting shopping local in Lloyd and promoting the Lloydminster business community. He had a really fantastic speech as well that really talked about the strength of our Lloydminster community. So I really felt that throughout the entire night there was that really strong theme of community.”
The Small Business of the Year was Red Bicycle Communications, Entrepreneur of the Year -Flowers on the Fly by Audina, Non-Profit of the Year – Residents In Recovery, Customer Service Award – the Hive, Diversity Award – RBC (Royal Bank), Employer of the Year – MNP LLP, Integrity Award – Thorpe Recovery Centre, Community Spirit Award – Videre Images and Downtown Business of the Year – McCaw Funeral Service.
Sjodin says the outlook for the Lloydminster business community remains strong going forward, even with the challenges.
“Coming out of the fourth wave, it’s still going to be challenging for small business. Covid has just been all round challenging for small business. So I think we can still push through the fourth wave and we can rebound with strong oil prices and our economy can continue to grow.”
The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce extended their gratitude and congratulations to all the winners and nominees for the 2021 Business Excellence Awards.
