Police remove three impaired drivers in near three-hour Maidstone blitz

Saskatchewan RCMP remind drivers to plan ahead this holidays. They say if you’re consuming alcohol or cannabis to get a designated driver, call a cab or stay put, if there is no safe ride home.

Corporal Bryce Pender from the Roving Traffic Unit shared his thoughts as police impounded three vehicles for 30 days and charged three drivers in the Maidstone area. Their driver’s licenses have been suspended indefinitely as officers led an overnight traffic blitz.

From 11:30 p.m. on December 9th to 2:00 a.m. on December 10th, officers found the impaired trio as they conducted a “Safer Roads, Safer Communities” campaign.

RCMP say one of the drivers had a pack of hard-iced tea and empty cans in the passenger area beside him.

Corporal Pender underscored the importance of safety and responsible decision making.

“This initiative focused on ensuring the roads in the Maidstone area were safe for everyone travelling on them. Despite constant messaging about the dangers of driving while impaired, these incidents show there are still people making poor choices that endanger not only themselves, but others around them.”

Pender further emphasized the RCMP’s commitment to finding and removing these drivers from the roads.
