The Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Seniors Care Society is honouring all caregiver staff for their service particularly over the last two years.
The organization extended its gratitude during a luncheon at the Legacy Centre where representatives from seniors homes, AHS and SHA, healthcare professionals as well as Councillor Jason Whiting were present to share in the sentiment of acknowledging the work of all staff and caregivers.
The group handed out gift certificates as well as one hundred dollar gift cards from Tim Hortons and flowers from Art of Flowers to be taken back to each facility. The staffers recognized included Pioneer Lodge and Pioneer House, Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre, Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre, Jubilee Home, Points West Living, Dr. Hemstock and Hearthstone Place and Lloydminster Homecare.
Ruby Trudel with LCCFSC says the accolade is for the entire team at each care home.
“They will take it back to the facility as it’s meant for everybody. It isn’t just the nurses or the LPN’s. It’s for the janitors and the people who do the laundry. It’s for everybody who works in those facilities. The facility is like a body, without one member it does not work well.”
Stacey Wagner, assistant head nurse at Lloydminster Continuing Care Centre is happy to accept the accolade on behalf of their team.
“It’s been a very overwhelming couple years for all the staff involved; all the families involved; all the residents involved. And to take recognition back to the staff is just wonderful.”
“I think we forget to say thank you. These people are receiving a salary and sometimes people forget that they need to be acknowledged and praised in addition to a salary. A salary isn’t enough. They give more of themselves than just what money is worth. They give from their heart.”
