“I can’t say enough about the great work that committee does, because they continuously discuss and bring forward the issues that are raised in the community on various fronts.”
Mayor Gerald Aalbers is expressing his gratitude for the work of the members of the Lloydminster & District Health Advisory Committee.
Council approved the appointments of Paul Richer, Todd Robinson and Elaine Kondro to the committee for a term ending December 31, 2023.
Aalbers alluded to a 15 item list of health matters that the committee is tasked with moving forward at the bi-provincial level.
“With Paul (Richer) as chair, (he) has done a great job with the committee to help put those in order and that is raised twice a year with the bi-provincial committee that Paul sits on as well as myself. We continue to have the bi-provincial challenge with health care documents and information flowing freely between doctors and healthcare providers and the patients.”
The list of items includes EMS, work on pediatrics and moving renal dialysis over to the Prairie North building added Aalbers.
The city is able to appoint four representatives to the committee and Aalbers says a couple openings came up as former members moved on due to their work commitments. He again stressed his gratitude for the service of these community members.
“People’s names came to me. I contacted them and they offered to let their names stand, which is greatly appreciated. Because they represent the city, it requires a formal motion as you saw today for an appointment.”
Paul Richer has been re-appointed as the chair, while Todd Robinson and Elaine Kondro are new members and the mayor is also on the committee.
