Man caught driving drunk in Bonnyville

Bonnyville RCMP have charged a man following a 911 call and traffic stop.

On Sunday, March 13th, police received multiple complaints and calls for service regarding a suspected impaired driver on Highway 659, heading westbound towards Bonnyville.

The vehicle was seen speeding and swerving into the oncoming traffic lane. The vehicle was pulled over by police and the occupants were observed swapping seats prior to speaking with RCMP.

The original driver, a 29-year-old man from Glendon was arrested for Impaired Operation of A Motor Vehicle and provided breath samples registering just shy of 3 times the legal limit. He was released once sober on court compelling documents facing charges of Impaired Operation, Impaired over 80 and Dangerous Driving.

The 28-year-old passenger, a man from Lloydminster, only had a GLD license, along with having alcohol in his system, so his license was subsequently suspended.
