Hockey Alberta and the Hockey Alberta Foundation have announced the 2016 Induction Class for the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame.
Several inductees will be recognized at the AHHF Awards Gala coming up Saturday, July 23rd at the Coast Hotel in Canmore.
Chair of the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Bob Clark, offers his congratulations to the award recipients of the 2016 induction class.

In the Achievement Category, two-time Stanley Cup champion with the Boston Bruins, John Bucyk will be inducted, as well as Mike Rogers, the former captain and leading scorer for the Hartford Whalers, and the 1966 Edmonton Oil Kings team that won the Memorial Cup.
In the builder category, George Kingston will be recognized, as one of Canada’s best-known coaches, and a long-time Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada volunteer, Terry Ledingham.
As well, Larry Kwong will receive a Founders Award for being the first player of Asian descent to play in the National Hockey League and his dedication to the sport in Alberta.
“Every year, the AHHF Selection Committee has the challenging responsibility of reviewing the nominees and determining who will comprise the annual induction class. For the committee, it is an opportunity to reflect on those who have made significant contributions to our sport in Alberta, Canada and beyond,” says Clark.
Nominations were accepted from the public until January 30 for individuals or teams, active or retired, and reviewed by the AHHF Selection committee. The nominee must exhibit the following criteria: lived in Alberta for at least five years; achieved personal and/or professional accomplishments in the game of hockey; made an impact in the game beyond a local or regional level; and received other significant recognition.
The AHHF gallery is located within the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame and Museum in Red Deer.
