2 men convicted on charges following theft

Several individuals have been convicted on charges following the theft of a vehicle.

Back in January, Maidstone RCMP were called regarding the public having spotted a stolen vehicle from Facebook on Township Road 504 in the Rural Municipality of Britannia. When police located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle fled.

The vehicle was located a short time later in a ditch near St. Walburg and 3 adults were arrested.

22-year-olds, Branden Dillon and Matthew Stanley, both of Onion Lake have been sentenced to 6 months in jail. Stanley also faces 6 months probation and a driving prohibition.

On Thursday, March 3rd, at Lloydminster Provincial Court, Dillon was convicted of 1 count of obstruction of a police officer, 1 count of possession of stolen property, and 1 count of failure to comply with a probation order.

On Tuesday, March 22nd, at Lloydminster Provincial Court, Stanley was convicted of 1 count of operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police, 1 count of obstruction of a police officer, and 1 count of possession of stolen property.

The third individual’s matters are still being handled before the courts.
