LPSD underlines safety and excellence in new school year

With the Saskatchewan government continuing with its interim education plan for the new school year, local educators are indicating what that looks like for their respective divisions.

In a statement to MyLloydminsterNow from the Lloydminster Public School Division, education superintendent, Trisha Rawlake notes that the government policy is a guiding document as they look forward to seeing their students and “creating an optimal learning environment where everyone feels safe and can achieve personal excellence.”

She adds the interim policy aligns with their 2022-23 LPSD strategic plan in its priority areas of mental health and wellbeing, literacy in grades 1-5, and supporting all learners from Kindergarten to grade 12 with emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

The LPSD is also prioritizing anti-racism, diversity, equity & inclusion policies & processes. They “will focus on students, families, staff, and the community to support and build relationships.”

The government signalled its intent on Wednesday saying that a long-term plan is still being developed with a rollout planned for fall 2023.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
