Maidstone RCMP warn motorists to watch their speed

As a result of several recent tickets, police are cautioning drivers on their rate of speed on the roads in the area.

Between March 27th and April 2nd, 34 drivers were stopped for speeding and subsequently charged.

Maidstone RCMP would like to remind motorists to be cognizant of the speed limits in the rural area: Highways, like Township Road 504, 514 and 490, unless otherwise posted are 80 KM/HR; Highway 16 is 110 KM/HR; & Highway 17 is 100 KM/HR.

As well, an increase in motor vehicle collisions has been reported with the nicer weather.  Given the warmer temperatures wildlife such as deer and moose are more active and pose a real risk to commuters. Police advise drivers to be extra diligent.
