Fire students hose cars in charity washing fundraiser

The Vermilion charity Hearts and Hands is getting some welcome change following the car washing efforts of some firefighters in training.

The Firefighter Training students at Lakeland College traded their overalls for car washing digs as they turned the hose on some messy cars on Sept. 9 netting $1,509.40 through their car wash fundraiser.

Hearts and Hands assists families in a crisis situation in Vermilion and area with a one time, one month supply of food, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, baby formula and diapers.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather.
