Bright future ahead for Bobcats: Bygrove

It may be early in the season, but Lloydminster Bobcats Captain Ben Bygrove says the future is looking bright for the 2022-2023 edition of the AJHL squad.

Bygrove says the team is looking forward to delivering the Bobcats brand.

“I think we will have a really good team. I think we will be a team that goes far in the playoffs and an exciting team to watch. So I’m really excited for the year.”

The new captain notes overall, “it’s a good start to the year.” For their last encounter on home ice with the Bonnyville Pontiacs, the Bobcats pulled off the “W” in overtime after giving up a couple goals in the third period.

Bygrove works on the farm in the summer and enjoys going to the lake. He talks about the get-r-done attitude as fans will expect the team to leave it all on the ice each and every shift.

“I guess that’s just how our whole team is. We are not an overly flashy team. Just kind of get out there. Put your work boots on and get the job-at-hand-done. I think that’s the team identity and what we are built on.”

The Lloydminster Bobcats are on the road Friday to face the Blackfalds Bulldogs then Saturday in Calgary to face the Canucks. They are back on home ice hosting Brooks on Oct. 22.

The Bobcats are currently fifth in the north in the AJHL standings.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
