Two charged with stolen property

Lloydminster RCMP have charged a pair from Bonnyville with multiple offences related to theft.

On April 2nd, 2016, Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and the General Investigative Section were conducting enforcement in the 5200 block of 16 Street. Two people known to police were observed departing a residence and began checking around the neighbourhood. The individuals started to go towards an open garage, but were scared off by a neighbour.

Police followed the individuals and located a stolen vehicle out of Edmonton. The two individuals were arrested and a search of the vehicle revealed additional stolen property.

30-year-old Melissa Lecky and 39-year-old, James Wilgus, both of Bonnyville have been charged with Possession of stolen property over $5000.00, 2 counts of Possession of stolen property under $5000.00, and Impersonation.

“Lloydminster RCMP are continuing to target hot spots identified by the Crime Analyst,” says Constable Edwin Smith. “This pro-active enforcement has led to tremendous success in vehicle recoveries, as well as charges against individuals whose only purpose in the City is to commit crime.”

Both individuals were brought before a Justice of the Peace. Melissa was release from custody and James was remanded into custody.
