DEVELOPING: Police say Highway 16 clear near Waseca after pursuit

The RCMP says two people have been arrested, after a “serious police investigation” concluded on Highway 16 near Waseca last night.

The Provincial Detachment says more details will be released later today, but do indicate that the incident started with a pursuit of the alleged suspects.

During this chase, which involved multiple detachments, a spike belt had to be used on the highway so as to stop the driver and prevent dangers to others on the busy highway. This spike belt did stop the fleeing vehicle, and the two suspects were taken into custody there.

That portion of Highway 16 was blocked off at the time, but has since re-opened as that part of the RCMP’s investigation has finished.

This is a developing story. Please check back for further updates as they are made available.
