Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services gets $200K grant from Alberta

The Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services will get a grant of $219,370, according to a statement from the Alberta government. The grant money comes as sexual assault centres across Alberta are to receive $4.2 million in extra funding from the provincial government.

The government says a $3.8-million investment will go towards the wait-lists at 13 sexual assault centres. Another $400,000 will help expand services to survivors who are waiting for support and information to assist their individual needs.

On the list of approved grants, Lloydminster was third behind Edmonton Sexual Assault Centre which got $1,853,960 and Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse Society with a grant of $630,770.

“It is critical that when somebody reaches out, help is available. Our government’s response to this concern is ensuring that sexual assault survivors across the province can get the support they need and deserve,” says Tanya Fir, parliamentary secretary for Status of Women.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
