With spring underway, it’s time for the annual clean up after winter with the community mainstay called Pitch-In Week being held from May 1-7.
Presented by Mary Brown’s, residents are encouraged to sweep sidewalks, pick up litter, and complete other cleaning chores on their properties and nearby community spaces.
Colouring Contest
A new feature this year is a youth colouring contest. Children aged 4 to 8 who submit an art piece will be entered to win three prizes of up to $75, whereas youth aged 9 to 16 are eligible to win up to $100, according to the statement on the city’s website.
Household Hazardous Waste Round Up
The Household Hazardous Waste Round Up will be on Saturday, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lloydminster Exhibition. A site layout is available online.
Household items being accepted:
- Aerosol cans
- Antifreeze
- Batteries (wet and dry)
- Cellphones
- Cleaning products and solvents
- Drugs and pills
- Fertilizers
- Laptops and notebooks
- Medications
- Metal
- Monitors and printers
- Paint (5 pails – 1 gallon only)
- Pesticides and weed killers
- Propane tanks
- Sharps (in puncture-proof container)
- Tires (regular size only)
- Toxic products
- TVs
- Used oils
- Use oil filters
- Various household electronics
Residents needing free pick-up, may call 780-872-1136 before 6pm on Friday, May 5.

The city has a safety orientation especially for dealing with sharp objects detailed online.
The sponsors and planning committee will host a drop-in family-focused free event and charitable BBQ to wrap up. More details may be found on the city’s website.
