Lloydminster issues fire restriction

A fire restriction has been issued by the City of Lloydminster due to the hot, dry weather.

City officials say the restriction is in effect for all city parks and green spaces, including Bud Miller and Weaver Park Campground.

Park visitors are also reminded to properly extinguish smoking materials in ashtrays or designated cigarette butt receptacles.

At this time, the City has not issued a community-wide fire ban.

Residents planning to visit other communities and camp sites may view fire bans and restrictions in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

A fire ban exists in Wainwright area while a fire restriction is posted for Vermilion.

Several RMs east of Lloydminster have issued fire bans and these extend up to Meadow Lake.

For more information, please contact the Lloydminster Fire Services office at 306-825-6515. To report a fire please call 911.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
