City crews will hit the pavement on Monday May 15 from 7 a.m. as Phase One work begins to spruce up Lloydminster’s downtown business district.
The work will see the closure of 50 Street between 49 Avenue and 50 Avenue, along with the full closure of the 49 Avenue and 50 Street intersection.
During construction, 24 temporary parking stalls will be available at Synergy Credit Union at the corner of 49 Avenue and 49 Street, adds city planners.
Planners detail the May 15-19 tasks:
- Safety fence to be installed around the perimeter of Phase One
- Streetlight removal along 50 Street between 49 Avenue and 50 Avenue
- Removal of the existing boulevard trees
- Coniferous and deciduous trees will be planted as part of the downtown area redevelopment
- Asphalt and sidewalk removal
Work will take place between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Sundays.
Weather permitting Phase One will wrap on June 4.
The City says Phase will follow and wrap up in October.
