Eyewitnesses are saying that the paint was not yet dry, when people were exchanging goods at a new safe space for Lloydminster and area residents to trade products that they may have purchased online.
MyLloydminsterNow was at the RCMP parking lot, 5106 44th Street on Thursday morning as crews from Tam and Jays Contracting rolled in ahead of the painting job.
The designated area is coming in for praise on local social media with comments like “great idea – great location,” and others noting it’s a safe space for separated parents to meet, especially with children involved.
The RCMP say that the safe zone can be used as a child custody exchange point. Also, the area is monitored by cameras. Anyone fearing for their safety or noticing red flags, can come into the building or pick up the yellow phone outside the front door after-hours to speak with an officer.
In case of an emergency, call 911.
