Bonnyville citizens help take down thief

A couple Bonnyville citizens have aided RCMP in arresting a thief.

On April 24th, at approximately 3:30 in the afternoon, Bonnyville RCMP received a 911 call, requesting immediate assistance on 47th Avenue in the town.

Police arrived on scene to find a 22-year-old male resident of the Bonnyville area, being held down by another citizen of Bonnyville. Police learned that the 22-year-old male had stolen a bottle of liquor from Liquor Mart and was spotted by two citizens when he fled on foot, running away from the store, while an employee was yelling at him.

The two observing citizens followed the suspect in their vehicle while calling the police.  When the suspect jumped a fence, a citizen and an employee from the store were able to catch up to him and detain him.

Police arrested the male for Theft as well as Failing to Comply with Conditions, and then transported him to the Bonnyville RCMP Detachment.

The male has since been released on court compelling documents to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court June 7th, with conditions of the court that include an order not to attend the Bonnyville Liquor Mart.
