Lloydminster residents encouraged to “pitch in” next week

The City is inviting residents to participate in Pitch-In Week, from May 2nd to May 8th.

A proclamation was made by Mayor Rob Saunders at the council meeting on Monday, April 25th, certifying that the week will be observed in Lloydminster, and stressing the importance on creating healthy, safe, and clean communities and environments.

Throughout next week, there will be several scheduled events for citizens to take part in. Cleanups will be held at the following parks:

  • Bud Miller All Seasons Park, Sunday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m., with First Baptist Church
  • Kinsmen Participark, Wednesday, May 4th at 5:00 p.m., with the Kinette Club
  • Dog park, May 4th at 6:00 p.m., with the Lloydminster & District SPCA

The kick-off ceremony for Pitch-In Week will take place at St. Thomas School at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 2nd.

As well, Household Hazardous Waste Roundup Day is set for Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds. People can ensure items such as electronics, used oils, fertilizers, medications, and aerosol cans are properly disposed of. Items such as tires, toilets, baby walkers/cribs/car seats will not be accepted.

To arrange for the free pick-up of household hazardous waste items, within Lloydminster only, residents can call 780-872-1136 by 6 p.m. on Friday, May 6th. For disposal of commercial or industrial quantities of hazardous waste, contact Public Works at 780-874-3700.

Pitch-in bins will be available for residents at the Lloydminster Exhibition Grounds on May 7 for bagged or bundled debris/garbage.
