Hundreds of Crosses on Highway 16 Hope to Address Addictions

If you’re driving through Lloydminster and see hundreds of crosses lining the intersection of Highways 16 and 17 (50 Ave.), the message is one of helping those who organizers say are “going unseen”.

In a Facebook post, Residents in Recovery say, “There have been 803 overdose deaths that have occurred in Alberta in the first five months of 2023. Both Alberta and Saskatchewan are on pace to break the old overdose death records at the peak of the pandemic.”

The crosses were put up as part of a vigil recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day.
