The Gold Horse Casino is once again delivering a millionaire winner from the Smoke Signals game.
On Sep. 17, Jeffery Stepaniuk was riding his luck when he snagged the top tier prize in Smoke Signals to pocket $1,490,640.58.
The Regina resident was passing through Lloydminster on one of his regular treks when he made a gander for the Smoke Signals machine.
Stepaniuk says he started with a loonie and at one stage he was $500 in the hole. Then the luck of the former Canadian army vet turned around making him Saskatchewan’s latest millionaire. He says he is still in disbelief until perhaps the money gets into his bank account.
“It was just before midnight I think, I was just thinking about leaving for the night. The number came up on the screen and I just assumed it was the small jackpot. I turned to someone behind me and said, “I won a million dollars.” I just couldn’t believe it.”
Stepaniuk says he’s thinking of investing and doing some travel. His parents are super excited even as he remains wary of long-lost relatives. He’s contemplating a charitable donation to the Cancer Society.
Trevor Marion regional general manager with Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority or SIGA says you’ve got to be in the casino to play since the machine at Gold Horse Casino has delivered four winners in the last four years.
“This one has had four wins. So, like I said, if you’re going to try to spin, you want to spin at Gold Horse because it’s trending. You could be the fifth winner.”
The Smoke Signals pot is up and running again at the local casino with the maximum jackpot possible being $2 million.
