Onion Lake RCMP are seeking Tristan Whitstone and Shanayah Hill, and consider both suspects to be armed and dangerous. They advise not to approach.
The search for Whistone has been ongoing since Oct. 16 when police issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with what they described as a serious assault that occurred in August in Onion Lake.
On Oct. 16 at about 2:00 p.m., RCMP got a tip that Whitstone was seen in a red car. The suspect car was located at a home in Onion Lake. When officers approached the residence, two individuals entered the red car – one matching the description of Tristan Whitstone. Both suspects drove off. Officers followed the car, which stopped and both individuals exited and ran off.
Officers chased after them and arrested the passenger of the vehicle, 23-year-old MacKenzie Cannepotatoe from Onion Lake. Cannepotatoe was wanted on warrants out of Onion Lake and North Battleford.
Cannepotatoe is charged with:
- One count of possession of methamphetamine
- One count of failure to comply with release order conditions
- One count of resisting a peace officer
- One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm or restricted firearm
His next court appearance is Nov. 1 in Lloydminster Provincial Court.
Tristan Whitstone, however, evaded capture and is still wanted by police.
Whitstone was charged with:
- One count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- One count of flight from police
- One count of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- One count of resisting arrest
- One count of uttering threats against a person
- One count of kidnapping with a firearm
- One count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- One count of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- One count of intimidation of a justice system participant
- One count of possessing a firearm knowing unauthorized
Whitstone may be in the Onion Lake area, say police. He is described as about six feet one inch tall, weighing about 240 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Officers believe Tristan Whitstone may be with 21-year-old Shanayah Hill.
On Oct. 17, Shanayah Hill was charged with:
- One count of uttering threats against a person
- One count of kidnapping with a firearm
- One count of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- One count of intimidation of a justice system participant
Shanayah Hill is described as five feet six inches tall, weighing 140 pounds with dark hair.
