LifeLabs make payout available to Saskatchewan patients after 2019 data breach

Patients affected by the data breach at LifeLabs across the country are in line for a class action settlement including residents in Saskatchewan.

Some 100,000 Saskatchewan patients may have been affected when LifeLabs faced a cyberattack in 2019 and subsequently made an undisclosed payment to regain control of their data systems.

An Ontario court has approved the settlement of up to $9.8 million with an individual payment of up to $150 depending on the number of claims filed.

Accounting firm KPMG will be the claims administrator and anyone in Canada who used LifeLabs services on or before Dec. 17, 2019, may submit a claim before April 6, 2024, on the KPMG website.

LifeLabs stated as many as 15 million Canadians may have been affected by the data breach.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
