With the countdown to the holidays shaping up, Cenovus Energy is adding some welcome cheer to the Lloydminster Interval Home which runs the shelter for women and children fleeing domestic abuse.
The Interval Home explains it received a $340,000 gift from the energy company which has been divided as follows:
- $200,000 will go to the 33-room Emergency Shelter
- $60,000 for the Strength to Change program, which works with the abuser to seek healthy alternatives
- $80,000 to the Youth Mental Health Navigator program
“Developing resilient communities is a focus of our social investment strategy, and we know these
contributions will have a significant impact on those supported by the Lloydminster Interval Home
Society,” said Kerry Margetts, Vice-President, Canadian Downstream Manufacturing and Technical
Services.
Officials with the Interval Home value the Cenovus contribution to their community building and resiliency efforts.
“Not only does the support from Cenovus Energy stand as recognition of our professional and respected work, but it also helps to create sustainability in our programming. We cannot thank Cenovus Energy enough for this gift of recognition and sustainability,” said Angela Rooks-Trotzuk, C.E.O. of Lloydminster Interval Home Society.
