The latest Chase the Ace winner, Karla Markevich, has collected $85,987.00 from the Lloyd Ex.
At a cheque presentation on Monday, Jan. 29, Markevich said she was asleep when the Ace of Hearts was pulled from the deck of cards. Thirty-three cards were left when the lucky draw was made on Jan. 24.
The lucky rancher is thinking she might increase the size of the herd.
“I’m going to buy more cows. I have just over 50 cows now.”
She says that along with her father, they have been buying the Chase the Ace raffle since it first started back in 2020 as a fundraiser for the Lloydminster Exhibition. The realization that she won all this extra cash is still settling in and Markevich remains undecided about what she will do with her winnings.
Stacy Cadzow. finance manager with the Lloyd Ex says the revenue from the latest round of the fundraiser will be going towards the ongoing work at the events facility.
“We are still doing some upgrades here. We need some new equipment. It will be determined soon.”
More information will be forthcoming on the resumption of the Chase the Ace raffle. In August 2022, a Shellbrook couple took the top prize of $1.2 million.
