Communities from Vegreville to Vermilion are currently under a water restriction.
The advisory covers all non-essential water-use from washing cars and filling hot-tubs to fleet washing, hydrant and sewer flushing, and fire training that could involve the use of municipal water.
Some of the areas affected include Two Hills, Lavoy, Innisfree, Minburn, Mannville, Duvernay, Myrnam, and Vermilion.
The restriction became necessary after the failure of a pump at the E.L. Smith Water Treatment Plant.
EPCOR says on its website the ban will be in place until midday on Sunday.
