The decals are fresh just like the food being transported in the new Food Rescue Van that The Olive Tree has received courtesy of ADM Cares and Food Banks Canada.
Staff at the Lloydminster non-profit have had the van since late August and in the last little while were able to get all the signage in place. The refrigerated ride has had a busy time moving precious cargo from Edmonton to Lloydminster as staff share meals several times a week at Olive Tree and stock a food bank to serve community needs.
Rebecca Lett, food rescue coordinator shared that having the new wheels with extra space plus back and side door access is a game changer for the work of the Olive Tree.
Plant manager with ADM, Peter Polansky said since The Olive Tree is concerned with food security, it’s a natural fit for ADM as a major food producer to support the local effort.
ADM Cares contributed $32,000 to the effort and the Food Banks Canada grant was $46,000.
Last year, The Olive Tree gave out over $1,149,000 in food across the community.
