Dr. Hemstock ribbon cutting, open house on Saturday

After some six months of renos, the Dr. Hemstock Retirement Residence will have a ribbon cutting and lead tours on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1 p.m.

Mayor Gerald Aalbers will lead the activity, says True Lazariuk, community relations manager who says the build was worth the effort.

“Part of our renovation was updating our entryway, seating areas, and reception. A big part of it was our multi-purpose room and our gorgeous dining room.”

Dr. Hemstock opened in Sep. 2001 and offers assisted living. It backs onto Hearthstone Place which caters to independent living. There are 131 suites between the two residences with 10 of them available for new residents.

“One bedroom and studios in Hemstock, and we have two-bedroom suites available in Hearthstone. If this is something someone is thinking about, then Saturday is the best option. They can come in, see our building, meet some of our residents, get a taste of some of our food that we have to offer and then we are also doing tours,” says Lazariuk.

The tours will wrap up at 3 p.m.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
