Community rallies to support Medstead farmer in Saskatoon ICU

A Medstead farmer who has been in the ICU in Saskatoon since November will have his crops seeded this spring as friends and family rally to support his family farm.

Trevor Short was involved in a collision on Nov. 21 and remains in intensive care at hospital. Visitation has been limited to his wife, three children and immediate family over Christmas and the duration of the last four months.

Family and close friends like Rob Toews will be pitching in with seeding season once the snow melts.

“He is only allowed immediate family to visit. We as a community are working on putting his crop in for him.”

Toews says his friend’s situation has been described as “very serious” by medical personnel. He adds Trevor’s brother “is stepping up to the plate for the biggest part. We as a community are raising funds to support them in whatever way they need. Whether they need money for the farm or whatever.”

The community is hosting a fundraiser with an online auction and live auction.

The live auction and social is on Saturday Mar. 23 at the Medstead Community Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the live auction from 7:30 p.m.

Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
