Lloyd Comp hosts community to show off school extension

The new extension at the Lloydminster Comprehensive is about the size of ES Laird or Bishop Lloyd say officials with the Lloydminster Public School Division as the community is invited to drop in on Tuesday, Mar. 26 from 7 p.m.

The 5,300 square metre addition features 13 standard classrooms, a cultural room, two science classrooms, one STEM classroom, one home economics classroom, one construction shop, one visual arts classroom, one photography/video production classroom, a fitness/weight room, and a new 1,200 square metre gymnasium which is double the size of the existing school gym.

The cultural room is designed with a makeup air unit so that smudging can be done without setting off the fire alarm. Fruit trees, bushes, and shrubs have been planted in the courtyard with a grant from Notice Nature.

New high definition (1080p) LED screens measuring 15 feet x 8.5 feet will be used as scoreboards and for school presentations.

The community is invited to tour the new look high school from 7-7:45 p.m. There is also a gathering space and canteen.

Groups interested in rentals may have discussions with school administration.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
