Play It Forward hockey game raises over $75K for Border City Connects

The 12-hour fundraiser, Play It Forward hockey game is a wrap for 2024 raising over $75,000 on Friday for Border City Connects.

With a matching grant, the non-profit will be able to buy another bus to transport six people with wheelchairs to medical appointments.

Organizers are expressing their gratitude to the hockey players, sponsors, and the community for the third edition of the event.

Executive director Glenn Fagnan says it’s fantastic the amount of effort the players put in as they raised the majority of the funds towards the new vehicle.

“It’s huge. We have one bus that we have to retire. We have applied for a grant and this game will be the one to top it off and allow us to get it (the bus),” says Fagnan.

Meanwhile, on the ice, the combined teams 1 and 2 scored 66 points, while the combined teams 3 and 4 scored 82 to take the trophy.

His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
